Yesterday Jay-z announced that he has officially teamed up with UK based management company Three Six Group to create Three Six Zero Entertainment, a management company that represents actors, directors and writers on the big screen and small screen.
The company will be run by their newly minted co-CEO David Unger alongside CEO Mark Gillespie.
“We will now expand to meet the need for international talent in the areas of film and television,” said Unger in a statement. Gillespie added, “The phenomenal growth and cross-over from international territories and ancillary businesses has transformed the way we service our clients globally. It is a natural fit for us to partner with David.”
What does this mean? Well, hopefully better representation of people of color in Hollywood and, most likely, more music cross-overs into the movie/television world. The news comes at a perfect time, as a few weeks back Uncle Rush tried to stunt on Hollywood’s black youth by telling them to step their game up and lighten up their color spectrum in order to be accepted by Hollywood.
We’ll have to wait and see how Hov uses this new platform to, perhaps, better the career of others.
