It has recently been reported that Microsoft has purchased Mojang; the Swedish developers responsible for games such as Cobalt, Scrolls, and of course Minecraft. The legendary game with over 100 million users allows players to create structures and battle each other in a vast open world. A controversial adjustment in ownership, Mojang has assured fans that everything will be OK.
Apparently the $2.5 Billion purchase serves as an attempt to increase the number Microsoft phones being purchased considering Minecraft virtually rules both the Apple iOS store as well as Android’s Google Play. I personally don’t think this was a very smart purchase; I feel as though Microsoft has missed the boat when it comes to capitalizing on Minecraft’s popularity, not to mention the fact that Apple has made it very clear that they are not to be fucked with when it comes to the mobile market. I mean, who knows though.. crazier things have happened with multi-billion dollar application purchases. Did Microsoft just wipe their metaphorical arse with a pretty 2.5 bil? Let us know what you think.
