Short Film: Exploring Afro-Latino Identity, Part 1

This is part 1 of our 3-part video series highlighting the social relevancy of Afro-Latinos. Their contributions were recently celebrated at the 3rd edition of the Afro-Latino Festival, a 3-day event held in New York City.

In this video, it wasn’t your ordinary evening gala. The Afro-Latino festival probed the very idea of what it means to be human—the festival itself forced us (everyone from the diaspora) to reconcile with the politics surrounding the hyphenated national and racial identity. It celebrated the oft-ignored contributions from Latinos of African descent; We explored our shared cultural heritage through music, dance, food, arts & crafts, and history—all united under OneLove.
